COMMUNITY OUTREACH

We support local, national, and global charities, community groups, and causes.

Neighbourhood outreach includes involvement with:

  • Mississauga Food Bank
  • Dixie/Bloor Neighbourhood Centre which provides services for new immigrants
  • Tyndall Nursing Home where we offer a worship service monthly
  • Interim Place, a shelter for abused women and their children, is the recipient of backpacks and school supplies, books and personal care items

THE OPEN DOOR

Dry and canned food donations and giftcards are collected during Sunday worship for The Open Door , a ministry assisting persons in need located at Square One. We also support the Open Door through our Benevolent Fund. Envelopes for the Benevolent Fund are available at the church.

A Friendship dinner is hosted by members of the congregation and served at the centre twice a year

UNITED CHURCH MISSION AND SERVICE FUND

We are called to be the church in the world both near and far away from Westminster United Church. One way we do this is through our support of the  The Mission and Service Fund of The United Church of Canada.  It provides an amazing vehicle to reach out to our hurting and needy world.

The Mission and Service fund is supported by contributions from members of the United Church of Canada. They contribute because the feel called to respond to God’s mission and healing for the world

At Westminster United Church, we encourage giving by sharing Minutes for Mission.

INTERFAITH

We work with other faith groups to help our community including Solel Synagogue and the Salvation Army. Examples of these partnerships include helping with the Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Program.

TOMKEN GROVE

Token Grove is a 5-story apartment complex with 68 units built on land belonging to Westminster United Church. It officially opened on June 6, 1992.
